OneCore Linux
The reference Linux distribution for cloud infrastructures
OneCore Linux 3.0 is the most advanced Linux distribution we have released to date.
This release of OneCore Linux is up to three times smaller and delivers roughly double the speed and efficiency compared to the previous generation. These improvements apply across the system, from core services to large-scale compute workloads.
To further improve scalability and deployment efficiency, we introduced a new cloud-based product delivery model powered by OneCoreNET. Products can now be installed on demand directly from the cloud, reducing local footprint while improving deployment speed.
With direct contributions from kernel engineers, OneCore Linux has achieved major performance gains in compute-intensive tasks. From standard build pipelines to advanced workloads such as neural networks, OneCore Linux now outperforms traditional Linux distributions in both speed and efficiency.
The primary goal of OneCore Linux 3.0 is maximum productivity across all environments.
Given the maturity and stability of this release, OneCore Linux 3.0 is available as a Long Term Support (LTS) release, providing extended support cycles and reduced migration requirements.
All OSKit dependencies are now fully open source to ensure maximum transparency.
A migration tool for upgrading from OneCore Linux 2.X to OneCore Linux 3.0 will be released shortly.
What's new
-
Unified Edition
Previously, OneCore Linux was divided into Client (mainline) and Server (srvmain) editions.
Starting with OneCore Linux 3.0, both have been merged into a single Unified (mainline) edition.
The Unified edition supports both client-side software such as OneCore RDE and server-side components such as OneCore VMI.
-
Cloud-based product activation
To significantly improve performance and reduce system size, products are now delivered from the cloud rather than stored locally.
All products are available free of charge through your OneCoreNET account.
A single activation key enables access to all eligible products on OneCore Linux 3.0.
Deprecation Notice
- Driver deprecation
The Nouveau driver has been deprecated in favor of NVIDIA Proprietary and OSS drivers.
Several legacy wireless network drivers have also been deprecated.
Migrating to OneCore Linux 3.0
The latest migration tool is available in the official OneCore Linux migration documentation.
You may choose to migrate using a OneCoreNET account or by reusing locally installed products.
